Our chapter's motto includes "bringing training opportunities and knowledge resources closer to the technician."  Following that commitment we've been re-broadcasting industry announcements from large publishers.  Today we have word from Communications Technology about a webinar called "TV Everywhere - Competing in a Three-Screen World" sponsored by OpenNet.

This FREE webinar is Tuesday Feb 23rd, 2010 @ 8am PST/11am EST

TOPIC:  Consumers increasingly want access to TV programs on their own timetables, at the location of their choice, and on any device. As cable operators seek to compete in an increasingly three-screen world, they are searching for ways to move video content seamlessly from TV sets to PC monitors, laptops, cell phones, and other mobile devices. But this ambitious effort requires a new level of complexity and sophistication from cable’s traditional HFC architecture. Authentication, subscriber profile management, and business model innovation are to the forefront of the challenges facing operators. How can cable make the leap into the three-screen world?

Join Communications Technology and Openet for this free webcast and discover the technical and business challenges that confront multi-channel video operators, as they assemble and manage all-purpose content delivery networks.

January 6th 2010 we let you know about three on-demand webinars offered by Tektronix as seen here.  Today, we're excited to let you know Tektronix has offered two more on-demand webinars.  One focused on MPEG Timing and Synchronization and the other on DTV & IPTV Monitoring - Reducing Downtime.  Both webinars are available via the Tektronix website via these links below:

MPEG Timing and Synchronization: Two Keys to Video Quality

Whether your job is to design Encoders and Set Top Boxes (STBs), or to evaluate or integrate them, dealing effectively with timing concerns is essential. A Tektronix Buffer Analyzer can pinpoint the source of timing problems, and our new webinar covering topics such as Program Clock Reference (PCR) issues explains timing principles and their impact on video quality.  Click MPEG Timing and Synchronization to view the webinar.

A Critical Quality-of-Service Ingredient in IPTV Networks
In today's IP video services, RF ingest is a critical part of the service flow. Now a new webinar explores IPTV delivery issues that can impact service. A veteran video engineer offers insights into some common network problems and introduces you to the Key Performance Indicators (KPI) that can guide your troubleshooting efforts in an IP Video network.  Click DTV & IPTV Monitoring - Reducing Downtime to see this webinar.

Volicon and JDSU are offering a complimentary webinar . . .

Topic:  Seeing is Believing: Using MPEG Monitoring and Alarm-Triggered Post Set Top Box Recording and Analysis to Deliver the Highest Digital Video QoE

Quality of experience (QoE) is emerging as the prevailing competitive factor for digital video operators. And there is no better measure of QoE for an operator than being able to see what the customer is actually viewing.

By combining MPEG monitoring with alarm-triggered post set top box recording and analysis, operators can obtain an accurate view of their customers' experiences; enabling them to focus troubleshooting and technicians on customer-impacting impairments.

Join speakers from JDSU and Volicon for a 45-minute presentation followed by live Q&A to learn more about:

  • Monitoring options, including stream vs content
  • Best practices for measuring QoS and determining their impact on QoE
  • Troubleshooting use cases using alarm-triggered post set top box recording and analysis
