SCTE Sierra Chapter - The News
My SCTE Story - Bob Angelastro Print E-mail

Hi, my name is Robert Angelastro.  As an active member of the Sierra Chapter of the SCTE, I was able to take advantage of the chapter’s scholarship program.  I was able to get a $1,000 reimbursement of tuition for my son to attend an accredited college.  Since I have been in Cable TV for most of my life and all of his, he had a real interest in the utilities field.  He enrolled to the Northwestern Linemen’s College in Oroville, it was a 15 week electric linemen certification program, this school has a 90% graduate to employed ratio within the first year.  Most of the graduates end up getting a job right away with a contractor working out of state; a much smaller percentage is able to get a job with a power company in the area where they would prefer to live.  Fortunately, my son was able to get on with PG&E based out of Placerville, and he did this in less than a year.  So bottom line, don’t ever let anybody tell you that the SCTE can’t help more than just your career, your family can benefit also.  See more about our Scholarship Program.

“I believe the SCTE/ISBE is your industry’s platform that allows you access to those exceptional life forms among us who are driven to excellence through motivation, persistence and innovation.  Don’t sit back and just watch the action.  Involve yourself in your local chapter events and meetings.  Take the lead by sharing your own experiences and knowledge at the next SCTE chapter meeting.  Let your local chapter leaders know which technical sessions you are interested in attending.  By doing so you are actually part of the solution as we all strive together for a successful and bright future.  And don’t miss an opportunity to proactively mentor a new SCTE/ISBE member.  Leaving it better than we find it and working for the good of the many is what it means to be a SCTE/ISBE member and a proud contributor to our innovative industry as well.”
