Your local SCTE Sierra Chapter will be presenting a Seminar on the "Technician's Guide to the Broadband Distribution Network" sponsored by guest speaker Jared Jankovich from CommScope. 

When:  Wednesday, July 11th, 2012 @ Check-In @ 8a.  Class-Time 8:30a-12:30p

Course learning objectives:

• Discuss the basic principles used to design and map the coaxial portion of the HFC network.
• Describe the network architectures related to the RF signal distribution.
• Explain the use and function of active and passive devices used in the coaxial portion of the HFC network.
• Explain the use and function of coaxial cable used in the HFC network.
• Define and identify the types of Signals and different modulation types used on a system.
• Define the term modulation and discuss various classifications of modulation.
• Distinguish analog signals from digital signals.
• Identify and describe the test equipment used during cable network maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Recognize common analog and digital signal impairments.
• Discuss performance requirements and proof of performance (POP) tests as outlined by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
• Describe considerations when maintaining and troubleshooting the forward and return path.
